Year of Thrift Begins
Now that it is 2010 Sarah and I have decided to have what we call “The Year of Thrift”.
We want to pay as much money off the house as we can in 2010 so we have decided to try and save as much money as we can without reducing our standard of living.
Here is what we have done so far:
- Day one 1/1/10 we went to Perth cup horse races. We had to pay $30 each to get in. However we set a $20 gambling budget of which we came home with $19.80. We took 2 bottles of champagne and had a net saving of $30 and took all our own food. A day that would normally cost around $150 cost $60.20.
- Day 2 (Today) we went to Coogee Beach to do our swimming training. Sarah and I had some toast before we left and made a coffee at home. When we went to the cafe afterwards we bought a coffee each and ate the apples we took with us. Normally we would spend over $20 on breakfast but today we spent $10.
- Sarah went to the op shop today. She bought 4 dresses for $12. We estimated they would cost $350 to buy them new. One of the dresses that she paid $3 for was brand new, had never been warn and had a tag for $129.
eBay apparently have $0.00 insertion fees up until 14 Jan. you should list anything you want to sell until then.
